Sri Nityananda Vamśa Vistar (‘The Expansion of Nityananda’s Dynasty’) is a rare 500 years old Bengali book composed in verse form by Srila Vrindavan Das Thakur, the author of Sri Caitanya Bhagavat. He is an incarnation of Srila Vyasadev who compiled the Vedic scriptures, too vast and complex for any ordinary human to be able to comprehend in one lifetime. While Caitanya Bhagavat deals mainly with the life and teachings of Nitai-Caitanya - this present book deals mostly with Nityananda and His family: His consort Jahnava Thakurani, who is the head of our whole Gaudiya Vaiṣnava sampradaya (lineage), his other wife Vasudha Devi, and their children, Biracandra and Ganga Mata. Sri Biracandra is simultaneously the son of Nityananda and a second manifestation of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu - Krishna in the mood of Srimati Radhika who manifested on earth to freely distribute the highest possible gift of prema – divine love – to everyone regardless of their qualification. Mahaprabhu’s special gift is not only Krishna prema but manjari bhava which includes both Radha prema and Krishna prema. The direct descendants of Nityananda and Biracandra are here to continue the love mission of Nitai-Gauranga. One of them is Prabhupad Srila Premgopal Goswami and we are blessed to be able to practice pure bhakti under his guidance. This rare book, which has become practically extinct, has manifested in the English language for the benefit of the English speaking world by his blessing, inspiration and guidance. Our only prayer is that this publication may inspire and enthuse our respected readers in their spiritual practice of bhakti.
