Essays Volume 2: Notes From the Editor: Back to Godhead 1978–1989 essays encompasses the last 11 years of his 20-year tenure as Editor-in-Chief of Back to Godhead magazine. The essays in this book consist mostly of SDG’s ‘Notes from the Editor’ column, which was typically featured towards the end of each issue starting in 1978 and running until Mahārāja retired from his duties as editor in 1989. These essays often address what were current affairs at the time, but which are also perennial issues, from a Kṛṣṇa conscious perspective, something along the lines of his 1994 book The Daily News: All Things Fail Without Kṛṣṇa. Śrīla Prabhupāda had instructed him to write such a book, and many of the essays collected here are of the type found later in that small tome. All of the essays are examples of Kṛṣṇa conscious writing that can be appreciated by a wide range of readers.
